So...yeah...the dress.
Well, if you were to take a potato
(a big, old, oblong roaster, not
one of those cute, little new potatoes)
and dress it up
in a short-sleeved version of
this
you would have a pretty good idea of how
my first fitting went.
I repeat......sigh.
All is not lost though, for the penance for impatiently
opting out of making a muslin
until
my seam ripper becomes
fused with my digits.
I'll maked the darned dress and
I'll make it look good on me
dammit.
Swearing that every dress will now have a premade muslin craftily crafted from an old bedsheet,

Oh, that Quaker dress is really cute! I have a pattern for a Lowell Mill girl dress that looks a lot like that, LOL!
Good luck with your sewing, I have a few projects sitting here eyeing me and making me feel guilty for being such a lazy slacker.

Thanks Peldyn! It is cute but I dont think I can wear it to my new job at a very modern office! I can get away with vintage 50s/60s but Im guessing that Id be pushing it a bit if I showed up looking like I just stepped off an Amish farm!
I think I may re-cut it into a little early 60s shift dress a la Mad Men. I think the fabrics a bit too stiff for the pattern.
Nice to hear from you!
